On the other hand, pinch valves feature a straight-through design with a flexible elastomer sleeve (pinch valve sleeve). A pinch valve is also known as a zero dead volume valve because there are no crevices where debris can accumulate. 

Processing Slurries and Abrasives

Since abrasive slurry contains abrasive particles such as sand or grit, they can get trapped in ball valves. This causes scouring and may lead to leaks because it will prevent the valves from closing properly. Solids can also settle inside the crevices and solidify, which will jam the valves. 

The pinch valve assembly is specifically engineered for abrasive, low-pressure slurry. The rubber sleeve absorbs the impact of particles and can seal around trapped solids. The pinch valve sleeves are also abrasion-resistant.
