Excluding condensation from time to time without leaking steam is the most basic condition of the trap. Therefore, it is not called a condensate trap, but a steam trap, although it is a device that removes condensate that is separated from steam and accumulates. The accurate and sensitive action of the trap refers to the opening and closing of the condensate. That is to say, when the condensate is removed, the trap is fully opened to discharge quickly; when the discharge is completed, it can be quickly closed to prevent the leakage of precious steam. This is the main performance of the trap. That is to say, the trap only has two situations: fully open and fully closed. If the switch is slow and the switch is not in place, it will cause throttling, which will easily cause the overall damage of the trap, and is also the main reason for steam leakage. As mentioned above, in principle, the action of the trap is fully open or fully closed, that is, the opening and closing actions. Depending on the type, there may also be continuous discharge and intermittent discharge types. (2) All condensed water can be removed anywhere in the steam system. Traps must be equipped with high-efficiency and accurate removal of condensed water produced by main devices such as piping and heat exchangers of steam-using equipment and any part of the steam system. (3) It can discharge air and condensate at the same time. The air mixed into the steam equipment is initially mixed with the steam, and is separated out when the steam turns into water. It forms an air layer on the heat transfer surface of the steam using equipment, which seriously affects the heat conduction, so the air must be excluded. (4) The applicable pressure range is wide. For the trap, if the pressure changes slightly, its performance will be affected, or even stop the action. In this case, its performance needs to be unaffected and can be adapted to any pressure. At the same time, the back pressure tolerance of the trap is required to be large. (5) Easy access and maintenance. This requirement is related to the structure of the trap. The trap is required to have a simple structure and few moving parts. In order to make the valve's action parts do not generate stress, appropriate materials should be selected, and more importantly, its structure should be easy to process. In a word, the steam trap should not need to have full-time personnel to carry out frequent maintenance work in management, that is to say, the maintenance cost should be reduced. (6) High practicability. Traps should be small in size, light in weight, long in life, low in price, and should not lose drainage capacity due to air or steam obstacles, and accidents such as air blockage and steam lock occur.
