Advantages and disadvantages of globe valve

Globe valve refers to a valve in which the closing member (disc) moves along the centerline of the valve seat. It mainly plays a cutting role on the pipeline. The use of globe valves is extremely common, but due to the large opening and closing torque and the long structure length, the nominal size is usually limited to below DN250. In addition, the nominal diameter of the globe valve is also related to the working pressure. The most obvious advantages of the globe valve are as follows: 1. During the opening and closing process, the friction between the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve body is smaller than that of the gate valve, so it is wear-resistant. 2. The opening height is much smaller than the gate valve. 3. Usually there is only one sealing surface on the valve body and the valve disc, so the manufacturing process is better and it is easy to maintain. However, the shortcomings of the globe valve cannot be ignored. The disadvantage is mainly due to the shape of the interior of the body cavity. In the body cavity, the medium changes from a straight direction to an upward flow, thus causing a pressure loss, especially in hydraulic devices.
